Amendments to the International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue (IAMSAR) Manual will come into effect on 1 June 2022 by virtue of IMO circular MSC.1/Circ.1640. 

These amendments are included in the 2022 edition of the Manual.

SOLAS regulation V/21 requires all ships to carry an up-to-date copy of IAMSAR Manual Volume III.

The IAMSAR Manual Mobile Facilities (volume III) is intended to be carried on board rescue units, aircraft and vessels to help with performance of a search, rescue or on-scene coordinator function and with aspects of SAR that pertain to their own emergencies.

Therefore Ship-Owners/Managers/Operators shall arrange for the latest edition of the Manual to be provided onboard by the next survey of the Radio and Passenger Ship Safety Certificates and Ph.R.S. Surveyors shall check onboard to verify the latest edition available.
